Follow the checklist below to help you move and get your bond back!
1. Use the recycling bins.
Put in clean tins and cans, non-confidential paper, magazines and card, and plastic bottles and bags (marked with numbers 1, 2 and 4), and glass.
2. Shred old confidential paperwork.
From 11th May there will be a shredder in the reception area of your students' union building. There is also a bin for old printer cartridges; disposing of these helps to raise money for charity.
3. Recycle old mobile phones.
Post it to
www.leedsuniversityunion.envirostudents; they’ll give you the value of your phone and LUU's Volunteering and Community office will also receive £3 to help community projects.
4. Get rid of non-reusable stuff you don’t want regularly using the bins provided.
Don’t leave it to the last minute and flood your halls with rubbish!
5. Give reusable stuff you don’t want to Green Streets.
Green Streets, a student-ran volunteering project, will provide bins for your halls, in or near your site office, for you to leave things for them to collect. This stuff is sorted and given away either to local hostels or charities, or to the general public at free shops. Find out what items they will accept on the '
Green Streets' page.
6. Help out! Volunteer with Green Streets.
There are loads of opportunities; from helping to run a free shop or driving a van, to making reusable fashion. It’s a great way to make friends and gain experience for your CV. For more info email Green Streets at
volunteering@luu.leeds.ac.uk
7. Pick up a Community Guide!
When you move into your new house or flat, use the Community Guide for information and tips to help you live in Leeds! Download a pdf version now from
